Price of Chick fil A Chicken Sandwich- Updated

The Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich is the flagship menu item of the fast food chain. The recipe has not changed for over 60 years since its creation in Atlanta, Georgia. It has three core ingredients- a buttered bun, two slices of dill pickles, and a juicy seasoned piece of chicken breast.

Chick-fil-A often says that its menu prices vary across its store locations, which, to be fair, is expected. But I wanted to see how much these prices vary for a data nerd like myself. So, I started a little project, gathering data from over 1,000 Chick-fil-A locations in the United States.

Please note that the data displayed was taken directly from Uber Eats, not the Chick-fil-A app.

Here is what I found:

Please note that no data is represented for the states of Alaska and Vermont since Chick-fil-A has no locations in these states (yet).

Key Statistics

Now, let’s talk numbers:

  • Oklahoma and Alabama are the cheapest states to purchase a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich at $6.29.
  • On the other hand, residents of California pay the highest price for a Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich, at $8.89, followed by residents in Hawai’i, paying $8.79 on average.
  • The highest price for the menu item at the time of writing was $9.05 at a location in the Upper East Side of New York City.
  • The average price for a chicken sandwich across the locations part of this study was $7.05.

Factors affecting the price of Chick fil A Chicken Sandwiches

Talk about fast food getting more expensive, right? Chick-fil-A has become more expensive in the past two years and has seen price hikes of more than 20% on its menu, and this applies to this signature item on its menu as well.

As one would expect, the food price would generally vary depending on where you live and the minimum wage in that state. It is expected that there is a general correlation between the cost of living in each state and the minimum wage.

The higher the minimum wage in your state, the higher it costs a Chick-fil-A location to pay their staff. Naturally, the purchasing power that most people have is also high since most people are making more than in other states, which is why it is reasonable to expect a difference in prices.

Next up, I am thinking of doing another analysis of how much it costs for a sandwich meal in each state and trying to delve into a comparison to see if we can find any anomalies. But until then, thank you for reading, and stay tuned for more!

  1. Yo, where did you find (or make up) your prices? A chicken sandwich at every Chick-fil-A in NYC is $6.99. Even the inflation article you referenced says that.

  2. Hi Garrett,
Thank you for checking out the article! The prices were taken from the Uber Eats app. We have updated the post accordingly to reflect that! Hope this helps!
